Studio Roatta Architetti Associati is a design studio, born in Mondovì (CN) in 1998 and associated since 2005.
Partners are Martino Roatta and Maurizio Roatta. Since the very first projects the design works steers towards the objective of high level of comfort and energy efficiency. The studio activates certain lines of research and development in the sustainability field and experiments innovative technologies, from systems to calculate energy needs to LCA evaluations of environmental costs, from the use of recycled materials to the reserch for solar solutions for all the most common building types – single-family houses, apartment buildings, commercial buildings, industrial buildings, both new and renovated.
In 2004 the studio signs the first architectural project to obtain a grant from the “Notice for model and strategic interventions in the energy field” of the Piedmont Region authority.
Since 2012, Martino Roatta is “expert” gPHi, the National Group of passive houses supported and coordinated by TBZ, Center for Building Physics of Bolzano.
In 2013 Martino Roatta is certified “Passive house designer”.

Sustainable Architecture – Green Building

A wide range of building types, from the renovation of a farm house to an industrial warehouse, all very efficient in terms of energy consumptions. Private clients, with the goal of sustainability. These are examples of integrated design in terms of architecture, energy and structures. The result of a “solar” approach to the energy problem and the environmental setting of a building.
The architectural project develops in conjunctions with the calculations of the energy needs and the verification step by step of its energy performance. The objective is knowing how it will end, it is about knowing and foreseeing the performance of the building on paper, to steer our choices towards the desired performance.
Most architectural projects are tailored, but theycan also be prototypes. Hence the development of monitoring systems to collect climate and consumption data, to verify and improve our design. Air temperature and humidity, the temperature of the surfaces that surround us, acoustic insulation and reverberation time, energy consumption and ways to distribute heat… all these are objective parameters (therefore foreseeable during design) to measure comfort levels.
The life of, and in, a building with natural light, its changing behavior during the seasons, its “living” in the surrounding environment, generate a more sensual, rich, aware and civilized cohabitation with our environment.

Green Redesign – Building Renovation

The term Green Redesign refers to the improvement of the energy efficiency of a building on an existing blueprint.

It is a service for developers, building contractors and engineers. It produces an executive project that parallels calculations of heat dispersion and that considers the system for heat distribution.

Once decided the desired energy class, we calculate the energy need of the project, evaluate several steps to improve the shell, choose the right and most cost-effective type of intervention, produce the executive blueprint, follow construction and finally certify both project and building. Above all, the energy efficiency of a building depends on the external shell, the choice of materials and the quality of the heat distribution system; finally, it depends on the energy source deployed. Similar considerations can be made about living comfort and building sustainability.

It is an architect’s job: to evaluate the formal aspects of a project, the performance against the previous solutions, areas of concern such as thermal and acoustic bridges, dampness, air change and the relative economic viability. This designing precedes and determines the dimension of the heating system. It allows to foresee the final consumptions and it guarantees the certification of the building in the desired energy class.
