In a flat area of the countryside around the town of Saluzzo, a renovation of an L-shaped farm to create two apartments. Our studio is entrusted with the energy-tuning of the project, through an energy evaluation and the consequent design of the definite architectural project . The preliminary project we received becomes feasible through the definition of all the building technologies and the stratigrafies needed for the construction of foundations, infills, floors and roofing. The high objective in terms of energy efficiency imposes thick insulation, from foundations to the roof. The work entails careful planning of the joints between different layers of insulation, eliminating thermal bridges and obtaining a high resistance to air thanks to quality windows and doors properly fitted, steam barriers (in particular on the exposed wood covering) and a Controlled Mechanical Ventilation system. On the whole the building thus obtains an annual energy need inferior to 13 KW/h m2. The roofing includes the laying of a photovoltaic system capable of covering the annual energetic need of the two apartments. A "class A" KlimaHaus© energy certification class A. The project received a substantial non-refundable grant from the Piedmont Region authority through its “Notice for model interventions in the energy field”.
