Energy-tuning project for an approved architectural project. An energy evaluation of the project as it stood was conducted, identifying the consumption of each living unit. It was then estimated the possible intervention in terms of energy saving, evaluating different levels of successive actions. Reduction of consumes was calculated in relation to progressive increases in the thickness of the insulation material and in the quality of windows and doors (glass and frame considered separately); to the thermal bridge of the rolling-shutter box, the insulation of balconies and so on. For all the solutions we developed building plans and a definite executive project, to evaluate the feasibility and the costs of the improvement. The solutions for acoustic insulation resulted in an extra guarantee for the final buyer and in an improvement of interior comfort. Overall we reached an average energy need of 20 kWh/m2 per year, a level definitely not common for this type of building, with an extra cost absolutely consistent with the economic expectations of the operation.
Thanks to this technical success, important in terms of comfort and sustainability, the project received a substantial non-refundable grant from the Piedmont Region authority through its “2007 notice for model interventions in the energy field”.
